We moved to Connecticut in September,
1965. Dad lived in a motel in Waterbury for a few weeks,
until our apartment at the Southington Manor apartments
was ready. Suzanne and Robin joined him then. His job was
as a Senior Engineer at United Aircraft Corporate
Systems Center (Corporate Think Tank). His first program was the Abort Sensor
Assembly (strapped-down inertial guidance system) where
he shortly became responsible for the design of the entire unit.
Besides working his tail off, his previous supervisors kept
on leaving the company, and he kept moving up. We saved a
lot of money during this time because of the overtime, so
in July of 1966, we put a down payment on our home at 52 Knollwood Road. We moved in about mid-November. We
stayed here until our home at 55 Burning Tree Drive was
ready about July, 1974. Dad transferred to Norden Systems
in 1977, and stayed there until he retired in 1991. We stayed
in Connecticut until December,
1995, when we temporarily stayed with Aunt Geraldine and
Uncle Phil at their home in Saddle Brook, and
then we moved to their new house at Lake of the Woods in Virginia.
We stayed there while we looked around for a permanent
home, and we visited friends throughout the South, and
family back in New Jersey and New Hampshire. By the end
of 1998 we decided to stay at Lake of the Woods, so we
bought a waterfront home on Beachside Cove. |
