From our temporary stay with the
Sheeran's in New Jersey, we started looking around the
South. We went to northwest Georgia, South Carolina,
North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. As it turned
out, we selected the area that was our first "pit stop"
on our first exploratory trip-Culpeper, Virginia. We
took Aunt Geraldine with us on one of the trips because
she had decided she wanted to retire close to wherever
we settled. While thumbing through a real estate book in
Culpeper for Aunt Geraldine, Suzanne and Geraldine came
upon a listing for Lake of the Woods that seemed better
than anything else they had seen. After looking at the
particular property, which turned out to be unsuitable,
we all stopped at the Weichert office outside the gate.
After a quick tour, Aunt Geraldine bought her retirement
home on Battlefield Road. Because the house would be
empty until she retired, we offered to stay there for a
few years while we continued to look around. Uncle Phil
then decided to join us. He had gotten his disability by
then, so we all moved in, the summer of 1996. We stayed
there until the summer of 1998, when we decided to
settle at the Lake. We then bought our home at 200
Beachside Cove. We stayed there until November 2005.
Uncle Phil sold Aunt Geraldine's house, and built a new
one on a piece of property they had bought next door on
Battlefield. As of the writing of this paragraph, we
still had the lot next door to us on Beachside Cove.
Needless to say, we all did well financially by coming
to Lake of the Woods. |
